Deve Gowda claimed that alliance was in concurrence with Kerala CM

The alliance of JD(S) and BJP had raised several questions among critics and commentators. One among them was how it was consistent to be a part of the Left Democratic Front (LDF) in Kerala which is in staunch opposition to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and be a part of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) simultaneously. Devegowda had stated that their alliance at the national level was in full concurrence with the Chief Minister of Kerala who understood their need to save their party from irrelevance. “In Kerala we are part of the government and our MLA is a minister there. These units understood the situation that made us go with the BJP and supported our move. Our minister in the Left party’s government (K Krishnankutty) in Kerala has given consent to us,” the former Prime Minister said as per a report in Onmanorama.

The Chief Minister of Kerala, Pinarayi Vijayan has however refuted the claims. “I am absolutely astonished by H D Deve Gowda’s recent statement! The mere notion that I would even entertain the idea of supporting a Janata Dal (Secular) JD(S)-Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) alliance is nothing short of a delusional fantasy. It is utterly disgraceful for a seasoned politician like Deve Gowda to make such unfounded lies. CPI(M) has been an unwavering and unyielding force in the battle against the Sangh Parivar. There is no room for ambiguity in our stance,” he stated on X.
