Bengaluru's long-awaited metro link connecting the city’s central area to Kempegowda International Airport (KIAL) is set to be completed by June 2026, according to an update from the Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL). Work on the project is progressing swiftly, with BMRCL focusing on laying the viaduct and completing other civil works. To ensure the timely completion of the project, the construction company has been instructed to speed up operations.

Speaking to NewsFirst Prime, Yashwant Chauhan, PR spokesperson for BMRCL, stated, “We are planning to run it from the airport to Hebbal or one station ahead. Also note that we need a turnback. We are doing a feasibility check. As per our studies, it should open in June 2026.”

While the Hebbal-KIAL stretch is a priority, the route between Hebbal and KR Puram will take longer to finish. However, the timely completion of the airport metro route is expected to provide much-needed relief to commuters and enhance connectivity in the city.
