Ajay, a seasoned tech professional, voiced his concerns about the proposed extension. He emphasized the negative effects of such long work hours on both mental and physical health. “Working 14 hours a day can lead to severe burnout and stress. It’s not just about being tired; it affects overall well-being, including mental health issues like anxiety and depression,” Ajay said.
He highlighted that while increasing work hours might seem like a solution to productivity challenges, it often results in diminished quality of work and creativity. “Extended hours can actually decrease productivity over time. Employees might make more mistakes and feel less motivated,” he explained.
Ajay advocates for a balanced approach where career demands are aligned with personal well-being. He suggests that an optimal workday should be around 8 to 10 hours to ensure sustained productivity and health.
As the proposal progresses, it is crucial for policymakers to consider these concerns and strive for work practices that promote both efficiency and employee well-being.
