In a development that goes a long way in deciding the politics of Karnataka, senior Karnataka leader Jagadish Shettar, who had defected to the Congress early last year, has returned to the BJP, his mother party.
He had cut ties with BJP as he was denied a ticket for the state elections.
However, the BJP went on to lose the elections badly. Though Shettar too lost the elections, the saffron party understood the intensity of the absence of Shettar and his experience, and was desperate to get him back. Talks were going on in this regard.

After the happy homecoming, Shettar said, “I had resigned from the party last year. Amit Shah had continuously asked me to return to the party. My workers too wanted me to return to the party-fold. At the same time, I want to stress the contributions of Narendra Modi to the nation in the last ten years. I believe in his leadership and returning to the party.”
Interestingly, earlier this morning, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had robustly declared that Shettar would remain in the Congress, but the development shows he was wrong.
Earlier today, Shettar had met Union Home Minister Amit Shah as part of the rejoining ceremony.
