A 6-year Labrador lost its life in an attempt to save its handler during an anti terror operation. The dog named Kent belonged to the 21 Army Dog unit. The dog was leading army officers to the hideout of terrorists when it fell prey to a round of firing from their end. Bullets from the AK Series rifles hit the dog. The incident occurred in the Narla village in Rajouri, Jammu and Kashmir.
An Army jawan and a terrorist also lost their lives as part of the operation. Additional Director General of Police Mukesh Singh informed the media of the developments. 3 jawans and a Special Police Officer were also injured during the cross firing.
“Army dog Kent was at the forefront of ‘Operation Sujaligala’. Kent was leading a column of soldiers on the trail of the fleeing terrorists. It came down under heavy hostile fire. While shielding its handler, it laid down its life in the best traditions of the Indian Army,” a defence spokesperson said.
