Captain MV Pranjal of the 63 Rashtriya Rifles hailing from Mangaluru city in the Dakshina Kannada district in the state of Karnataka was among three others who laid their life in an armed conflict with terrorists in the Rajouri region of Jammu and Kashmir. He is the son of former director of Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL), M Venkatesh. Pranjal was a student in the Delhi Public School, MRPL. He later completed his Pre University education in the Mahesh Pres University College in Mangaluru. He recently got married and had aspirations to become a Major very soon. Pranjal was part of a search team which was acting upon intelligence that the terrorists were located in the Gulabgarh forest in the Kalakote region. 

Chief Minister of Karnataka, Siddaramaiah expressed his grief at this news. “The news of the death of MV Pranjal among three others to the bullets of terrorists in the Rajouri region of Jammu and Kashmir is disheartening. I pray for their souls to attain peace. May god provide strength to their family of the slain warriors to bear  the pain of their death. Their patriotism and sacrifice will be remembered forever by the people of the country,” he posted on the micro blogging platform X (formerly known as Twitter).
