Japan Airlines rents a variety of clothing options for its passengers
Passengers have flexibility to choose their preferred clothing type
Upon arrival at hotel, users will find their selected clothing waiting for them
Japan Airlines now offers passengers the convenience of renting a variety of clothing options for their travels.
Vacations are a mix of excitement and stress, with the anticipation of some time away from work to relax and enjoy oneself often marred by concerns about accommodations, dining, and especially what to wear.
While hotels, bed and breakfasts, and motels can handle the first two aspects of travel, clothing remains a perennial concern for many of us. To streamline this aspect of travel and promote sustainability, Japan Airlines has introduced a year-long pilot program that allows passengers to easily book a variety of clothing options.
Here’s how it functions:
For travelers flying with Japan’s flagship carrier, vacations now come with the added perk of being able to rent a curated selection of clothing. As detailed in a BBC report, passengers have the flexibility to choose their preferred clothing type, season, style, and pickup and return dates for their clothing rentals.
Upon arrival at their hotel, users will find their selected clothing waiting for them. This service is offered at a cost ranging from approximately $34 to $48 for the entire rental period.
This innovative service, aptly named ‘Any Wear, Anywhere,’ commenced in July of this year and is set to continue until August 2024.
The brainchild behind this concept is Miho Moriya, an employee of Sumitomo, the Japanese company responsible for reservations, deliveries, and laundry services. Moriya’s inspiration for this service stemmed from her own aversion to dealing with luggage while traveling.
She envisions expanding this service to other airlines within the OneWorld Alliance and, ultimately, globally, in an effort to promote sustainable travel practices.
