Terminal 2 of Bengaluru’s airport has been recognized internationally for its innovative design, winning the prestigious ‘Special Prize for an Interior’ from UNESCO’s Prix Versailles, a Paris-based architectural awards jury. Built at a cost of approximately ₹5,000 crore, the terminal reflects the essence of Bengaluru, often referred to as the garden city, by offering travelers a unique “walk in the garden” experience.
The terminal spans over 10,000 square meters of lush green walls, hanging gardens, and outdoor gardens, all crafted using indigenous Indian technology. This green-themed approach not only showcases sustainability but also redefines travel aesthetics, setting a new benchmark for airport design in India and worldwide. Chen’s appreciation has further elevated the global profile of Bengaluru’s stunning T2.
