Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah emerged as the Man of the Tournament in India’s second T-20 World Cup triumph. Not many would argue that there were other contenders for this spot. Bumrah maintained an astonishing economy rate of 4.18 throughout the tournament. This is extremely impressive even by One Day International (ODI) standards.

Bumrah’s performance proved to be the decisive factor in securing victory on two occasions in the World Cup when the opponents seemed to be in position to secure a victory. These were the games between Pakistan and South Africa.

Bumrah picked up the wickets of Babar Azam, Rizwan and Ifthikhar Ahmed at crucial junctures in the game against Pakistan. In the game against South Africa, Bumrah took the early wicket of Reeza Hendricks. He also ensured that Macro Jansen was clean bowled when South Africa needed 21 runs to win off 15 balls. “When I was on air, I said he is more valuable than a Kohinoor diamond. Genuinely, he is the greatest all-format bowler at the moment in world cricket. Under pressure to come and keep performing time and time again, not many can do that. He’s a captain’s dream—someone who wins at any stage, any play of the match—that’s what makes him so special. Brilliant, fantabulous—that’s the word for him,” former Indian wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik remarked during an interaction with Cricbuzz.
