Karnataka government extends Dr CN Manjunath’s service as the director of Sri Jayadeva Insititute of Cardiovascular Sciences and Research by six more months. His tenure was to end on July 19.
This decision was taken by CM Siddaramaiah at a governing council meeting headed by him on July 17. Dr Manjunath is well known for his years of yeoman service as a cardiologist at this hospital.
If sources are to be believed, his service extension comes in view of his work at a 371-bed hospital complex in Kalaburgi to serve patients from across Kalyan Karnataka region and among other things.
Jayadeva hospital is noted for providing the best cardiac care for low cost and even free for BPL card holders. This hospital is a non-profit, government run autonomous institute.
This hospital has seen over 100% growth in terms of outpatient care and cardiac services under the auspices of Dr Manjunath as the director.
In 2007, Dr Manjunath was honoured with Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian award by the Government of India, for his yeoman service in the field of cardiovascular sciences.
Dr Manjunath has reportedly performed over 25,000 interventional procedures and is also credited for performing highest number of balloon mitral valvuloplasty procedures in India.
