Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez are now officially married. The Amazon founder, 61, and former news anchor Sánchez, 55, tied the knot in a private ceremony held on the beautiful island of San Giorgio Maggiore in Venice, Italy.

The couple were together for several years, and hosted a wedding attended by stars like Oprah Winfrey, Kim and Khloe Kardashian and Orlando Bloom. The ceremony took place in an open air amphitheatre which was overlooking the scenic Venice skyline.

Sánchez shared the first glimpse of their special day on Instagram late Friday, posting a photo of herself in a flowing white gown alongside Bezos in a black tuxedo. She also updated her name on the platform to “laurensanchezbezos.”

While the celebrations took place in a private and luxurious setting, not everyone in Venice was in a festive mood. Some local residents and activists held protests, raising concerns about the impact of such high-profile events in the city. They pointed out issues like overcrowding, rising rents, and the environmental stress Venice is already facing. For many, the wedding highlighted the growing gap between the city’s everyday struggles and the lifestyle of the wealthy few.

Despite ongoing concerns around the city the wedding was a special moment for the couple. Surrounded by close friends in a beautiful setting they also marked a new chapter in their lives together.
