I always looked up to Sachin and he always helped me: Yuvraj

24th April marks the birthday of former Indian batsman Sachin Tendulkar. Wishes poured in from across the cricketing fraternity on this occasion. Some of the prominent figures who wished Sachin included Suresh Raina, Gautham Gambhir and Yuvraj Singh, all of whom were part of the 2011 World Cup winning squad. 

Yuvraj shared a post on X to wish Sachin. “Happy birthday paaji! From smashing bowlers on the field to smashing life goals, you’re the reason I learned to aim higher in life (and sometimes on the field too) Here’s wishing you loads of love, good health and happiness always (sic),” the post stated.

Yuvraj also shared a clip wherein he talked about the impact Sachin had on the squad. “Sachin brings a lot of humbleness and humility towards himself and the game. Always helpful, always there for youngsters. Things were not going well for me. I always looked up to him and he always helped me, always backed me. He was always there for me. You know, somebody who scored a hundred 100s and on that level it is very hard to, you know, when you go into a team, and he’s like, god for you. Just to connect with that person and just be friends. I think it was a dream for me,” Yuvraj mentioned.
