Tollywood actor Prabhas-starrer Kalki 2898 AD has been receiving an overwhelmingly positive response since its release on 27th June. Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan is featured in the film in the role of Ashwatthama who is in conflict with Bhairava played by Prabhas. The film borrows a leaf from the Mahabharata epic wherein Ashwatthama is cursed by Lord Krishna to live forever with a wound on his forehead.

Amitabh’s performance in the film has received rave reviews. The interaction between Bhairava and Ashwatthama has particularly impressed fans. Some have even gone on to state that his performance overshadows that of Prabhas who is the protagonist. In a promotional interview released by the Vyjayanthi network on YouTube, Amitabh apologised to Prabhas fans. “When Nagi [Nag Ashwin] came to me to talk about the project, he just brought a picture of what my character is going to look like and what Prabhas is going to look like. And I was this huge guy who was shoving off 'The Prabhas.' All the fans of Prabhas, please excuse me. Mai haath jod ke maafi maang rahe hain (I apologise with my folded hands). Don't massacre me after you see what I do in the film,” Amitabh said.
