In a remarkable turn of events, Prabhas' "Kalki 2898 AD" has surpassed Hrithik Roshan's "Fighter" to become the highest-grossing Hindi film of 2024. Within just 12 days of its release, "Kalki 2898 AD" earned Rs 218.90 crore, overtaking "Fighter's" lifetime collection of Rs 212.50 crore. Across all languages, "Kalki" has amassed over Rs 500 crore.

Directed by Nag Ashwin, this sci-fi mythological epic continues to shatter records with each passing day at the box office. On Sunday, "Kalki 2898 AD" entered the prestigious Rs 200 crore club in the Hindi language, grossing Rs 22.5 crore that day alone and pushing its Hindi total to Rs 212.40 crore. This brought the film within striking distance of claiming the top spot for the year.

Previously, the number one position was held by "Fighter," which starred Hrithik Roshan, Deepika Padukone, and Anil Kapoor, under the direction of Siddharth Anand. Released on Republic Day, "Fighter" garnered Rs 212.50 crore despite mixed reviews, marking it as the biggest Hindi hit of the year until now.

However, "Kalki 2898 AD," featuring an ensemble cast including Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Prabhas, and Deepika Padukone, has now taken the lead. The film added another Rs 6.5 crore on Monday, bringing its total Hindi earnings to Rs 218.90 crore. With its Telugu run continuing, "Kalki 2898 AD" is expected to cross the Rs 250 crore mark, solidifying its place as one of Telugu cinema's biggest hits.
