In a heartfelt social media post, the 59-year-old Harris shared a childhood photo of herself with her mother, recalling the challenges her family faced while saving to buy a home.

Harris revealed that her mother “saved for over a decade to buy a home,” a moment she vividly remembers from her teenage years. “I was a teenager when the day finally came—and I can still remember how excited she was,” Harris wrote in her post on X.

She also shared her own experience working at McDonald’s during her college years to “earn spending money.” Harris emphasized that such challenges are even more difficult now, given the rising cost of living across the country. “That only gets harder when the cost of living goes up,” she stated, pledging to prioritize efforts to bring down costs and “increase economic security” for all Americans if elected President.

Harris’s commitment to tackling economic issues comes just ahead of the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, where she will officially accept the party’s presidential nomination. Her candidacy was solidified after receiving overwhelming support in a virtual roll call of delegates, as confirmed by the Democratic National Committee.
