She criticized CBFC for revoking the film's certification following petitions
"Move felt like an "Emergency" has been imposed on my film: Kangana
In a recent interview, actor Kangana Ranaut expressed her deep disappointment following the unexpected postponement of her film Emergency, which has been delayed once again.
Speaking on a podcast with Shubhankar Mishra, Ranaut criticized the decision of the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to revoke the film’s certification after petitions were filed against it. She remarked that the move felt like an “Emergency” had been imposed on her film, labeling the situation as both “terrible” and “unfair.”

Ranaut, who recently took office as a Member of Parliament representing Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, shared her frustration with the censor board’s actions, particularly since the film’s portrayal of historical events had already been depicted in previous films like Indu Sarkar and Sam Bahadur. She questioned why the CBFC would rescind its approval after initially granting the certificate.
Despite the challenges, Ranaut is resolute in her decision to release the uncut version of Emergency, even if it means pursuing legal action. She emphasized that the film was made with integrity and refused to compromise on its content, particularly in depicting the historical context surrounding Indira Gandhi’s demise.
The film, which has faced backlash from various Sikh groups for allegedly portraying the community negatively, was originally slated for release on September 6. Emergency features a star-studded cast, including Anupam Kher, Milind Soman, Shreyas Talpade, and the late Satish Kaushik.
