Suriya's upcoming film Kanguva is generating immense excitement not only for its scale but also for the ambitious box office target set by its producer, KE Gnanavel Raja. The producer, who is backing the project under the Studio Green banner, has confidently projected that the film will rake in ₹2000 crore at the global box office—far surpassing the coveted ₹1000 crore milestone that only a few Indian films have achieved.

In a recent interview with Galatta, Raja was asked about the growing ₹1000 crore club, a benchmark that has been crossed by select Hindi, Telugu, and Kannada films. No Tamil movie has yet reached that figure. However, Raja believes that Kanguva is poised to change this. "I am expecting ₹2000 crore box office collection. Why are you underestimating it with ₹1000 crore?" he said, expressing his optimism for the film’s grand success.

Raja also addressed concerns over inflated box office numbers, which have recently come under scrutiny in the Indian film industry. He assured transparency regarding Kanguva's earnings, stating that he plans to submit the film’s Goods and Services Tax (GST) filings and provide proper documentation to verify the collection figures. "I intend to submit the GST from Studio Green and provide the appropriate documentation regarding the Kanguva box office collection," he added, promising to maintain clarity on the film’s earnings.

With a staggering budget of over ₹350 crore, Kanguva is one of the most expensive Tamil films ever made. The movie, directed by Siva, is a fantasy action drama featuring Suriya in the role of a warrior. Shot across seven countries, the film is set for a massive release in 35 languages, marking an unprecedented move for an Indian film. Featuring an epic war sequence involving over 10,000 extras, Kanguva boasts a star-studded cast including Bobby Deol, Disha Patani, and Kiccha Sudeep.

Kanguva is set to hit theaters worldwide on November 14, 2024.
