Alwin Dsouza, a Kannadiga residing in Israel shared with Newsfirst, a first hand account of the proceedings pertaining to the attack on the country by Hamas on October 7th. “We heard a siren at 6 AM in the morning. Upon venturing out of the house to know the reason, a lot of people had gathered outside. A while later through news channels, we learnt that Hamas has initiated a rocket attack on Israel. By 9 PM, I had heard 4 sirens. We have been hiding under the stairs of our buildings or visiting bomb shelter rooms. Many terrorists have entered Israel. They are invading homes. They are capturing women and children. They are placing guns on their heads and shouting slogans. Many soldiers have lost their lives. More than 150 people have died as a result of the bombings,” he stated. 

Meanwhile, The Chief Minister of Karnataka, Siddaramiah has expressed his concerns with regard to the safety of the people of Karnataka in Israel. He asked them to exercise caution and follow the guidelines of the local authorities. He asked citizens  to avoid travelling unless absolutely essential and station themselves near bomb shelters. “In cases of any citizens of India hailing from Karnataka in Israel requiring assistance, reach out to Karnataka State Emergency Operation Centre Helpline numbers: 08022340676, 08022253707,” he stated on X.
