The 70th National Film Awards ceremony is currently underway at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi, where the best films of 2022 and outstanding actors will be recognized. President Droupadi Murmu will present the prestigious awards, including the coveted Dadasaheb Phalke Award to veteran actor Mithun Chakraborty.
Among the top winners, Kantara (Kannada) claimed the Best Popular Film Award for providing wholesome entertainment, solidifying its place in the hearts of Indian audiences. Other notable winners include Aattam (Malayalam), which bagged Best Feature Film, and Fouja (Haryanvi) as Best Debut Film. In the non-feature category, Ayena (Mirror) took home the award for Best Non-Feature Film, while Murmurs Of The Jungle was recognized for Best Documentary.

Brahmastra Part 1 (Hindi) triumphed in the AVGC (Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, and Comics) category, and Ponniyin Selvan (Tamil) was acknowledged for its music, with AR Rahman winning Best Background Music.
The event is being broadcast live from 3 PM on DD National, with a red carpet preceding the ceremony at 4 PM. Viewers can also catch the live stream on YouTube.
The jury, led by Rahul Rawail and supported by Nila Madhab Panda and Gangadhar Mudaliar, reviewed entries from across the country to determine this year's winners.
