The arrest of Varthur Santosh pertaining to the possession of a pendant made with tiger nails has now had repercussions across the states. Several prominent celebrities had their houses searched by Indian Forest Service (IFS) officials and the pendants seized for further examination.

IFS officials have also been receiving several anonymous calls ever since the arrest. More than thirteen individuals have specifically called up to return tiger nail pendants that they own. The officials are being presented with several questions. Many people are trying to obtain clarity regarding the established procedure to return ornaments that have been made using the skin of wild animals. The toll free number of the forestry department has become permanently occupied. The number of calls received on a daily basis are in triple digits.

Apart from tiger nail pendants, questions pertaining to other products made from wild animals are also being asked. It must be noted that the forest officials had opened up various channels for the return of such products throughout the year. After a certain timeframe however, the government backtracked on providing an avenue for the same. The public arrest of Varthur Santosh from the sets of Bigg Boss on October 22nd was a wake up call for many individuals who have inadvertently broken the law of the land.
