Bengaluru has witnessed an extreme increase in temperature in the summer season of 2024. On 2 occasions, the temperature reached 38 degree celsius. This trend has also been witnessed in other parts of Karnataka. In Kalaburagi the temperature had reached 42 degree celsius on 27th April.
Amidst the rising temperature, 7234 cases of Diarrhoea have been reported across Karnataka. This is just over the last 3 weeks. This might be due to the consumption of contaminated water in order to cope with the heat. The medical opinion in this regard is that boiled water prepared at home is a safer alternative.
Signs for diarrhoea include dryness of lips and tired eyes. Lack of hunger and dehydration are other symptoms. Pain, weakness and irregular urination are also signs of diarrhoea. Stomach pain, nausea, vomiting and high fever are other signs. Reduction in weight and inflation of stomach are also indications of diarrhoea.
