In a major push to improve academic outcomes in state-run schools, Karnataka Chief Minister has set an ambitious target of 75% pass percentage in the upcoming SSLC (Class 10) examinations. To achieve this, the Education Department is preparing a comprehensive master plan starting this academic year.

One of the key innovations is the introduction of webcasted pre-board exams, intended to mirror the real examination environment and reduce students’ anxiety. These preliminary exams will be held thrice a year, and the webcast system will ensure strict monitoring and better preparedness across schools. The aim is to help students become familiar with the exam process well in advance of the final SSLC board exams.
As part of this educational reform initiative, several structured measures are being rolled out:
- All schools must complete the syllabus by December.
- Remedial and special classes will be held within school premises to support struggling students.
- Efforts will be made to bring dropouts back to school, and re-enroll students who previously failed.
- Attendance will be closely monitored to ensure students do not miss school.
- Model question papers will be released to help students practice.
- Schools will also conduct regular health check-ups for students to ensure their well-being.
- Mock exams will be conducted periodically, under exam-like conditions.
- Every Friday, departmental officers will visit schools to oversee progress and provide support.
This master plan reflects a holistic approach that not only focuses on academic delivery but also on student well-being, regular attendance, and performance analysis.
