In a bid to tackle Bengaluru’s growing traffic and urban pressure, the Karnataka cabinet has approved the development of an Integrated Satellite Township spanning 8,032 acres between Bidadi and Harohalli. The decision, announced on January 30, envisions a sustainable urban hub to alleviate the state capital's congestion.

The township, under the Greater Bangalore Development Authority (GBDA), will cover ten villages in Ramanagara district, including Bairamangala, Bannigere, Hosur, and Vaderahalli. Strategically located along the Bengaluru-Mysuru expressway, the site is just 30–50 kilometers from Bengaluru, making it a prime location for a satellite city.

Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister HK Patil explained that this project is part of a broader plan to develop satellite towns like Devanahalli, Nelamangala, Hoskote, Doddaballapur, and Magadi. These hubs will feature efficient transport systems, sustainable infrastructure, and ample job opportunities, designed to reduce Bengaluru's urban load.

Built on the ‘work-live-play’ model, the township will offer residents a balanced lifestyle. To ensure global standards, the government plans to hire an internationally renowned firm through a competitive bidding process.

A high-level committee led by Karnataka's additional chief secretary will oversee the project, ensuring smooth coordination. Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar emphasized the importance of satellite towns like these in decongesting Bengaluru. Preliminary work is set to begin, marking a significant step toward integrated urban planning.
