In a tragic incident, Chandrashekhar (52), a Superintendent at the Karnataka Maharshi Valmiki Scheduled Tribes Development Corporation (KMVSTDC), reportedly ended his life on Sunday evening at his residence in Vinobnagar, Bengaluru. According to police, Chandrashekhar hanged himself while his wife, Kavita, was attending a funeral in Machenahalli near Bhadravathi.

In his death note, Chandrashekhar accused KMVSTDC Managing Director JG Padmanabh, Accounts Officer Parashuram Durugannavar, and Union Bank of India Chief Manager Shuchismatha Rawal of driving him to suicide. He alleged that Rs 187.33 crore had been illicitly transferred to various accounts under pressure from the managing director. Chandrashekhar also mentioned financial irregularities involving Rs 85 crore within the corporation and stressed that he was not involved in any illegal activities.

Chandrashekhar’s note conveyed his inability to withstand the accusations and work pressure. His wife, Kavita, has filed a complaint against the three officers at the Vinobnagar police station based on his death note.

Reacting to the development, B Nagendra, minister for tribal welfare said, “I extend my condolences to the family of the dead. It’s been reported that there has been corruption in the entire issue. As many as 3 FIRs have been registered in the entire case. Irrespective of how mighty the accused is, we will not spare him.”
