In the last few days, there has been a huge controversy over Karnataka Milk Federation not supplying ghee to Tirupati Tirumala Devasthanam or TTD for making its delicious laddus.
The Congress and BJP, the two principal parties in Karnataka have been fighting it out incessantly. While Nalin Kumak Kateel, the BJP state president, even went to the extent of saying that the Congress is ‘anti-Hindu’ and has made it a habit to hurt their sentiments, the Congress shot back, saying TTD’s decision not to use ghee provided by KMF was taken almost 2 years ago, during the BJP’s regime.

While the arguments and counterarguments keep taking place, let’s remember that the KMF is Karnataka’s pride. For the last 20 years, it had been supplying ghee to TTD. Statistically, the KMF would provide 14 lakh kgs of ghee every 6 months.
While the KMF was selling ghee at subsidised rates all these days, it is not possible now due to various reasons.
The TTD has now floated a new tender, procuring ghee at much lesser rates.
The fiasco over Tirupati laddus is only the latest in the long list of controversies that have sullied Karnataka’s reputation.
The government did not do any good to its reputation as it increased milk prices by Rs 3 a litre, making it extremely unaffordable for the common man.
Riding on the promise of guarantees, the Congress government stormed back to power in the Karnataka Assembly elections.
And once it held the reins of power, it understood that promising is one thing and implementing it is another.
