  • H.K Patil proposed the resolutions
  • State Government claims loss of Rs 68,200 crore to Karnataka
  • Leaders will file a complaint against the Speaker to the Governor

Two resolutions were passed in the Vidhana Sabha against the alleged tax discrimination by the central government. Minister of Law, Parliamentary affairs and Legislation of Karnataka H.K Patil proposed these resolutions amidst strong opposition by the Members of Legislative Assembly (MLAs) of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The resolution stated that the policy of the Central Government with regard to taxation has resulted in a loss of Rs 68,200 crore to Karnataka.

He also stated that the standards set for drought relief are not being followed by the central government as per requests put forward by the revenue department.  Apart from this a resolution to adapt the recommendations of the MS Swaminathan Report was taken.

The BJP leaders created a ruckus in the parliament and a heated clash of words took place between the BJP Legislators and the Indian National Congress (INC) legislators. The legislators entered the well and called the state government poisonous. The Speaker attempted to negotiate by summoning the legislators in his office. However this attempt failed. The BJP and Janata Dal (Secular)  (JD(S)) leaders will march to the Raj Bhavan on 23rd February. They will file a complaint against the Speaker to the Governor.
