In a shocking incident, 2 bodies were recovered from a lake by officials of the Karnataka State Fire and Emergency Services Department. The incident occurred at the Mavathur Lake in the Koratagere taluk of the Tumkur district of Karnataka. Reports suggest that the deaths were a result of suicide. 

The victims have been identified as 19-year-old Anaya hailing from the Lakkaiyanapalya Hobli in Kolar and her 50-year-old husband named Rangashamanna hailing from the Byragondlu village in Tumkur. They had fallen in love over a course of time. They had talked about this in their respective homes. The age gap however resulted in their relationship not gaining acceptance in their homes.

The two of them had gone missing from their homes 4 days back. The family members of the individuals had conducted an extensive search in this regard. Their mobile phones and slippers were recovered on the shores of the Mavathur Lake. This led to the assumption that they may have jumped into the lake. Search operations began inside the lake. Their bodies were recovered on the morning of June 23rd.
