Bengaluru is set to witness significant job creation as British retail giant Tesco plc plans a major expansion in the city, expected to generate 16,500 jobs. The announcement came during Karnataka Industries Minister M.B. Patil's visit to the UK, ahead of the Invest Karnataka Global Investors Meet in February 2025.

Currently employing 4,000 people in Bengaluru across Tesco Business Services (TBS) and Tesco Technology, Tesco intends to hire 1,500 more employees, expand its operations with a new facility, and establish a distribution center in Hoskote. The latter is projected to create 15,000 jobs. Minister Patil highlighted Bengaluru’s strategic importance, with Tesco executives expressing confidence in Karnataka’s supportive business ecosystem.
In parallel, Rolls Royce Group explored opportunities in the state’s flourishing aerospace and defence sectors. Minister Patil underscored Karnataka’s leadership in composite manufacturing and its attractive business incentives. Rolls Royce recognized the state’s strategic role in its future India investments.
The delegation also engaged with Pearson Group, a UK-based education leader, to strengthen skill development initiatives. Pearson aims to introduce AI-powered learning solutions and expand its India footprint.
The Karnataka roadshow showcased initiatives like the KWIN City project, inviting global firms to leverage the state’s infrastructure and pro-business environment. Minister Patil affirmed the Invest Karnataka 2025 event in Bengaluru as an ideal platform for fostering international collaborations and driving innovation-driven growth.
