With an eye on encouraging sports, the Congress government in Karnataka, headed by CM Siddaramaiah, has announced a very important development in Budget 2024. 

A sports city with modern and international standards will be established in 70 acres of land in Bengaluru North Taluk, under PPP.

At the same time, the CM also announced that a state level Olympics for the sportspersons and a mini Olympics for athletes below age of 14 will be organised every year to provide the best competing opportunities.

Paris Olympics rewards 

The CM also announced that a prize money of Rs 6 crore, Rs 4 crore or Rs 3 crore would be given to those sportspersons who bag gold, silver or bronze medal respectively in the upcoming Paris Olympics. 

Asian Games rewards 

A prize money for Rs 35 lakh, Rs 25 lakh or Rs 15 lakh will be provided to sportspersons who bag gold, silver or bronze medal respectively in Asian Games and Commonwealth Games.  

Health insurance facility 

Health Insurance will be provided from the state government for sportspersons of Karnataka who get injured in national or international tournaments. 

Apart from these, women sports hostels will also be constructed in 14 places.
