In a major relief for cinema lovers, the Karnataka government, under Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, has announced a uniform ticket price for all cinema halls and multiplexes in the state. As per the new rule, no theatre or multiplex can charge more than ₹200 per ticket per show, ensuring affordability for moviegoers.

Previously, multiplexes, especially in cities like Bengaluru, charged high prices for tickets. This move aims to curb excessive pricing and make cinema more accessible to the public. The government’s intervention ensures that all theatres, irrespective of location, follow the same pricing structure.
Apart from regulating ticket prices, the budget also proposes the creation of a government-owned OTT platform to promote Kannada films. This initiative will provide a dedicated space for Kannada cinema, helping regional films reach a wider audience.
Additionally, the government plans to develop a multiplex in Nandini Layout, Bengaluru, under a public-private partnership (PPP) model. This project aims to enhance the entertainment infrastructure in the city while supporting the film industry.
These measures reflect the government’s commitment to boosting the Kannada film industry and ensuring affordable entertainment for people across Karnataka. By controlling ticket prices and promoting local films through an OTT platform, the state is taking significant steps to strengthen its cultural and entertainment sector.
