A Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) bus driver attempted to commit suicide inside the bus. The driver was reportedly upset over a case filed against him. The incident occurred at 2 PM on 23rd March. The driver-cum-conductor consumed poison and suffered from its effects. His colleagues shifted him to the Meggan hospital in Shivamogga. 

38-year-old Basavaraj was employed as a driver with the KSRTC for over 10 years. A case pertaining to inappropriate conduct was filed against him. An enquiry pertaining to the case took place on 23rd March. 

After the enquiry concluded, Basavaraj consumed poison in a bus headed to Badravathi from Shivamogga. The bus was stationed at the Shivamogga bus stop. An enquiry pertaining to this incident will reveal whether the angle of alleged harassment by higher-ups will factor into it.
