On October 9, the Chief Minister's Office (CMO) in Bengaluru welcomed a high-profile delegation from the Maldives, led by President Mohammed Muizzu and First Lady Sajidha Mohammed. The visit aimed to foster bilateral cooperation between Karnataka and the Maldives in various sectors.

During the welcome address, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah expressed his delight at hosting the delegation, particularly noting that First Lady Sajidha had once been a student in Bengaluru. He emphasized Karnataka's prominent role as the "Silicon Valley of India," showcasing the state’s advancements in start-ups, Artificial Intelligence, global capacity-building centres, and innovation hubs. Siddaramaiah also reiterated Karnataka's commitment to helping the Maldives' IT industry grow through mutual technological collaboration.

Apart from technology, the Chief Minister highlighted potential trade ties, focusing on Karnataka's rich cultural heritage. He proposed marketing the state's handicrafts and handlooms to the many tourists visiting the Maldives, creating new opportunities for both regions.
Siddaramaiah also lauded Karnataka’s natural and cultural beauty, quoting poet Kuvempu, who described the state as "Sarva Janangada Shantiya Thota" or "a garden of peace for all communities." The visit marks an important step in strengthening diplomatic and economic relationships between Karnataka and the Maldives.
