Karnataka cracks down: Lokayukta raids 40 spots in corruption hunt

Karnataka Lokayukta launches hunt to nab corrupt government officials

  • Lokayukta raided 40 locations across 7 cities in Karnataka
  • Over 150 officials took part in the largest corruption drive in recent times
  • Several govt officials’ homes and offices raided

In a major corruption quest, Lokayukta officials carried out parallel raids on the homes and offices of government officials of various departments in Karnataka. The operation involved over 150 Lokayukta officers and covered 40 locations across 7 cities.

Tumakuru, Mangaluru, Vijayapura, Bengaluru Urban, Bengaluru Rural and Shahapur in Yadgir were the districts were the raids were conducted. Bengaluru alone saw raids at 12 locations, while Bengaluru Rural saw 8, Yadgir 5, Vijayapura 4 and Mangaluru 4. Officials are currently engaged in document verification and evidence collection at the raided locations.

Officials subjected to probe include:

  1. Rajshekhar- Director, Nirmithi Kendra, Tumakuru
  2. Manjunath- Survey Supervisor, Dakshina Kannada, Mangaluru
  3. Renuka Satarle- Officer at Dr. BR Ambedkar Corporation, Vijayapura
  4. Murali TV- Additional Director, Directorate of Urban and Rural Planning, Bengaluru
  5. HR Nataraj- Inspector, Legal Metrology Department, Bengaluru
  6. Ananth Kumar- Second Division Assistant, Hosakote Taluk Office, Bengaluru Rural
  7. Umakanth- Officer at Shahapur Taluk Office, Yadgir

This widespread crackdown marks one of the largest operations by the Lokayukta in recent times, aiming to scrap out corruption within state government departments.
