In a swift and strong retaliation to the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, the Indian Army launched Operation Sindoor, striking nine terrorist hideouts in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) with missile attacks. Following this successful counter-operation, the Karnataka state government has issued an emergency directive to enhance security at all dams across the state.

Satyamoorthy B. Kulkarni, the Secretary of the Water Resources Department, has instructed officials to coordinate with the state police to deploy additional security forces at key water infrastructure sites. The directive emphasizes that any lapse in security will directly hold the concerned project officers or dam authorities accountable.
Strict instructions have been passed to the Chief Engineers and Managing Directors of 17 major dams and related departments across Karnataka to implement these measures immediately.
