In a heartbreaking incident, 26-year-old IPS officer Harsh Bardhan, full of promise and dedication, lost his life in a road accident on December 1. Harsh, a probationary Assistant Superintendent of Police in the Karnataka cadre, was on his way to Holenarasipur in Hassan district to take up his first posting when tragedy struck.

The accident occurred near Kittane on the Hassan-Mysuru Highway when the tyre of his police vehicle allegedly burst, causing the car to veer off the road. It collided with a roadside house and a tree. Though locals quickly came to their aid, rushing Harsh and the driver, Manjegowda, to the hospital, the young officer succumbed to his injuries. The driver sustained minor injuries.

A native of Madhya Pradesh, Harsh had recently graduated from the Karnataka Police Academy in Mysuru, where he was admired for his determination and professionalism. His father, Akhilesh Kumar Singh, a sub-divisional magistrate, and mother, Dolly Singh, had always been his inspiration for pursuing a career in public service. Harsh’s family and colleagues recall him as a hardworking individual with a strong commitment to serving society.

This devastating loss has left a void in the lives of his loved ones and the police force. Harsh’s untimely death is a stark reminder of life’s unpredictability, cutting short a career that promised to touch countless lives.
