Speaking emotionally, Shivakumar said, “It is as if the tragedy has happened in our own house. When I was inside the event venue, I came to know about the incident. I was deeply disturbed.” He added that the cries of the relatives of the deceased were heartbreaking. “I couldn’t control my tears after seeing their pain,” he said.
Responding to criticism from opposition leaders, Shivakumar condemned what he called “politics on corpses,” urging leaders to avoid exploiting the tragedy for political gain. “This is not the time to blame anyone. I can’t point fingers at a particular person or department,” he stated.
He emphasized that the government is taking the issue very seriously and promised that steps would be taken to ensure such incidents are not repeated. “We will review the arrangements and see where things went wrong,” he assured.
The tragedy has sparked widespread outrage and grief across the state, with many demanding accountability for the overcrowding and lack of proper safety measures during the celebration.
