Shivakumar emphasized the importance of Karnataka Rajyotsava, particularly in Bengaluru, where nearly half of the population comes from outside the state. He called on institutions to raise the flag in front of their premises, encouraging widespread participation in the celebration of Karnataka's formation day.

The Deputy Chief Minister also stressed the need to respect and promote the Kannada language, urging all residents to join in the festivities as a demonstration of unity and cultural pride. In addition, he issued a warning to pro-Kannada organizations, advising them to avoid engaging in any unlawful activities during the celebrations.

This initiative is seen as an effort to strengthen regional identity and integrate Bengaluru’s diverse population into Karnataka’s cultural fabric. Karnataka Rajyotsava, celebrated annually on November 1, marks the state's formation and is a significant occasion to highlight the heritage of Karnataka. The flag hoisting is intended to symbolize unity and pride in the state’s cultural legacy.
