Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka, DK Shivakumar took part in the “Bhoomi Poojane” (Hindu ritual of worshipping the Earth) for the construction of the Veerabhadreshwara temple in the Shivanahalli village in the Kanakapura Taluk. He delivered a speech on this momentous occasion. “Our district is not Ramangara. It is a part of Bengaluru district. Have faith in me, I will add parts of Ramanagara to Bengaluru district,” Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar said in a speech.
He further specified that this would be applicable for the entire region of Kanakapura. He clarified that the villages in the region would also be a part of Bengaluru. He specified that this would be of significance especially with respect to the price of land in the region. He also urged the people of the villages to not sell their land to prospective buyers from Bengaluru. “I cannot deposit money into your pocket or build a house for you. But I can with god’s grace increase the land value by 10 times in this region. I can contribute to the education of your children and grandchildren,” he mentioned.
He discarded the need for a public discussion before going ahead with the proposal as the decisions regarding the Bengaluru district fell under his domain by virtue of his position as the Deputy Chief Minister. He reiterated that work pertaining to his district is his priority.
