With the margin of victory for the Indian National Congress in Telangana being marginally above the halfway mark, the possibility of horse trading cannot be ruled out. It is in light of this development that the party has possibly dispatched Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka, DK Shivakumar to ensure that their victory is not marked by any untoward incident. He does have experience in negotiating horse trading affairs!
DK Shivakumar congratulated Revanth Reddy, the most likely Chief Minister of Telangana and even offered him sweets. “Leaders from various states have worked in Telangana to help the Congress MLAs win elections. The people of Telangana have given victory for the creation of the state. They have expressed their gratitude to Sonia Gandhi,” he stated.
BJP State President of Karnataka BY Vijayendra also responded to the state election results. “People want PM Modi to become Prime Minister again. The BJP will get majority in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections. People want national security. They are turning a blind eye to the guarantee schemes, which will finish off the country and are devised to grab power,” he said.
One would at least hope that the raging Hyderabad v/s Bengaluru debates may subside given that the same ruling dispensation governs both the states currently.
