In a heartbreaking incident, Dr. Sandhya, a young medical professional from Kolar, lost her life after sustaining a severe head injury in a road accident. The tragedy unfolded when she missed her bus and asked her father to drop her at the hospital. Riding pillion on a two-wheeler without a helmet, Dr. Sandhya fell during the journey and suffered a massive concussion.

She was rushed to a hospital in Kolar but could not be stabilized. Later transferred to Manipal Hospital in Bengaluru, she was declared brain dead. In a remarkable act of generosity amidst their grief, her family decided to donate her organs, giving a new lease of life to 12 individuals.

Dr. Sandhya’s mother expressed both pride and regret, emphasizing that her daughter continues to live through others. However, she also lamented that the tragedy could have been avoided had Sandhya been wearing a helmet. In her message, she urged everyone to prioritize safety and wear helmets, whether as riders or pillion passengers.

This tragic incident serves as a somber reminder of the importance of road safety and the life-saving potential of helmets. Dr. Sandhya’s selfless legacy now lives on through the lives she has saved.
