In a heart-wrenching plea, Renukamma, a distraught mother from Tumakuru, has asked Karnataka police for permission to either jail her son, Abhishek, or allow her to end his life by poisoning. Driven to desperation by his spiraling drug addiction and alcoholism, she has also sought intervention from Home Minister G Parameshwara to curb rampant drug movement in the area.
Renukamma describes how Abhishek's addiction has dragged their family into turmoil. Constantly demanding money for his vices, he resorts to violence and theft when his needs are unmet. “He frequently quarrels with friends and strangers for money and often returns home beaten black and blue,” she lamented. For the sake of her family's honor, she urged the police to incarcerate him as a final resort to prevent further disgrace.

Her appeal underscores a broader crisis; she highlighted how drug activity in Tumakuru has fueled crime and shattered lives. Abhishek, having fallen into bad company, has allegedly threatened to kill a girl and was once apprehended by locals before being handed over to the police. Despite multiple confrontations, he continues to harass his mother for luxuries like a bike and mobile phone—demands she cannot afford.
Renukamma's plea is not merely for herself but for systemic intervention against the region’s drug menace. With a heavy heart, she implored authorities to take decisive action to end her son’s destructive path and prevent other families from suffering similar fates. Her appeal exemplifies a mother’s tragic desperation and calls for urgent measures to address drug-related issues in Karnataka.
