Karnataka’s mango markets are set to brim with produce as the state eyes a robust harvest this season, thanks to early flowering, favourable weather, and fewer pest-related issues. After years of battling erratic weather and fruit fly infestations, farmers are hopeful for a significant rebound.

This year’s production, expected to range between 9 and 10 lakh metric tonnes, marks a notable recovery. Though unseasonal February rains caused some early fruit and flower drop, the overall outlook remains positive. Unlike typical off-seasons, which yield about 6–7 lakh tonnes, and peak seasons producing up to 15 lakh tonnes, this year’s forecast is considered above average.

Reportedly, officials from the Karnataka State Mango Development and Marketing Corporation report a decline in pests and fungal diseases, which has bolstered farmer confidence. If April and May remain free of damaging storms or high winds, growers could enjoy one of the best harvests in recent years.

Mangoes are expected to begin arriving in markets from mid-April, with peak availability extending through June. Kolar and Ramanagara districts are leading production, supported by strong output from Tumakuru, Chikkaballapur, Dharwad, and Belagavi.

Karnataka’s mango cultivation spans 1.49 lakh hectares across 31 districts. With proactive crop management measures in place and steady regional output, consumers can expect a wide variety of high-quality mangoes in the coming months.
