Shiva Rajkumar starrer Ghost is facing stiff competition with Thalapathy Vijay starrer Leo, Balakrishna starrer Bhagavanth Kesari and Ravi Teja’s Tiger Nageshwar Rao releasing on the same day. The film has still managed to collect Rs 3.50 crore in its first three days. This is despite the fact that Leo managed to accumulate a lion’s share of the screens even in many parts of Bengaluru and Mysuru.
This disparity was more evident among the multiplexes than among single screen theatres. Shiva Rajkumar addressed the scenario in a recent media interaction. He emphasised on the need for the film chamber to talk with the distributors and theatre owners to reach for a more equitable sharing of screens. He highlighted that multiplexes like PVR operate in Bengaluru therefore this necessitates that they do not have a high-handed approach to the issue. He drew examples of Kantara which was not made on a high budget but still gained huge traction owing to positive word of mouth. “Whether my film screens in 50 theatres or 1000, my fans will still ensure that they watch it,” he stated. He however cautioned against aggressive agitations as a means to tackle this issue.
Leo on the other hand has managed to cross the Rs 200 crore barrier.
