Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) and cabinet minister, Priyank Kharge, who is currently in charge of the Department of Electronics Information Technology Biotechnology (ITBT) has expressed his intent to boost the skill development and foster grounds for the growth of startups in the gaming industry.

He had an interaction with Rajan Navani, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of JetSynthesis. The aim was to build a partnership around the expansion of the Indian digital gaming industry. Projections already indicate that by 2025, this sector would generate revenues close to 4 billion dollars.

Rajan Navani has released a statement emphasising that they would create future new age skills to bolster the growth of gaming startups.

Priyank Kharge is contemplating on conducting an international eGaming skill and startup summit. Earlier he had opposed the flat 28% GST tax on the gaming industry stating that there should be a demarcation based on whether the games are luck dependent or chance dependent. He further stated that this tax could be a hindrance in the path of reaching the 1 trillion dollar economy as the gaming industry projected to have 2.5 billion dollars in investments currently may suffer from lack of foreign investment as a result of this taxation policy.

The GST council in its 50th meeting had increased the tax for online gaming from 18% to 28%. The Internet and Mobile Association of India opposed the move.
