Karnataka: Hamsalekha to inaugurate Dasara

Music director Hamsalekha will inaugurate Mysuru Dasara on October 15th, later this year. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah spoke to the media confirming this development earlier in the day. The inauguration would take place on the Chamundi Hills. October 15th is the first day of Navaratri. Early morning 10:15 to 10:36 is considered an auspicious time for the inauguration to take place. 

There are certain speculations making rounds that this move is politically motivated. 

Hamslalekha was embroiled in a controversy in 2021 over comments made on the late Pejavur Swamy. 

“Pejawar Swamy has gone to stay at a Dalit person’s house. This is a statement. He had gone and sat there but could he eat chicken if they gave it to him? They will fry up sheep’s blood and serve it, can he eat it? They will serve liver, can he eat it? No. So I felt what is the big deal about him going to a Dalit person’s house.” he had said while talking about the reforms made within monasteries by the seer. A police complaint was filed against him with regard to this. 

BJP MP, Prathap Simha had also said that these comments had angered him.
