- Karnataka HC forms SIT to probe Jeeva's suicide
- Death note accuses CID officer of harassment
- Case transferred to CCB amid public pressure
The Karnataka High Court has ordered the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the suicide of industrialist Jeeva, a law graduate and supplier for the Karnataka Bhovi Development Corporation. The SIT will investigate the case within three months and consists of officers Vinayak Verma, Hakay Akshay Machindra, and Nisha James.
Jeeva’s death, initially registered as suicide at Banashankari Police Station, came to light after a troubling 11-page death note was found, accusing CID Investigating Officer Kanakalakshmi of harassment. Jeeva alleged mistreatment during an investigation related to a Rs 97-crore scam involving misuse of funds meant for over 500 fake beneficiaries. The note also raised suspicions about her involvement in the scam, as significant sums had reportedly been transferred to her bank account.
Jeeva’s family, along with the legal community, has demanded a thorough investigation, with some calling for a CBI probe. Following public pressure, Bengaluru Police Commissioner transferred the case to the Central Crime Branch (CCB) for a more in-depth investigation.
The tragic death has raised serious concerns about corruption and misconduct within the investigation process. As the probe unfolds, public trust in both the ongoing scam investigation and the justice system hangs in the balance.
