  • Kumaraswamy referred to Siddaramaiah as the collection king and Yathindra as the collection prince
  • H.D Kumaraswamy lashed out at Yathindra
  • Neither the Chief Minister or his son have responded to the claims

A video from the Keelanapura village in the Mysore district of Karnataka during Yathindra Siddaramaih’s (Son of Chief Minister of Karnataka, Siddaramaiah) meeting with the people of the village has caused a storm in political circles across the state. “ Vivekananda? To where? I haven't given any of this, can you give the phone to Mahadev. I have only given five. Mahadev why are you giving things out of the box? Who’s giving these in the list? This is not required. Kindly stick to the four or five I have given,” he’s heard saying in the video. Mahadev is a close aide of CM Siddaramiah in his office. Whom Yathindra is referring to as “Vivekananda” in the video is yet to be ascertained.

This has garnered responses from across the political spectrum. Former Chief Minister of Karnataka from the Janata Dal (Secular), H.D Kumaraswamy lashed out at Yathindra through a post on X (formerly known as Twitter). He referred to Siddaramaiah as the collection king and Yathindra as the collection prince. He accused them of converting the Chief Minister's office into an extortion den. He stated that the brazen manner in which these affairs are being discussed publicly indicates that transfers have become a matter of business transactions.

Neither the Chief Minister or his son have responded to the claims. Nelamangala MLA Cheluvaraiya Swamy has however speculated that the video might have been edited to present a picture which removes the statement from its context. He referred to Yathindra as a prominent social figure.
