Karnataka: Heavy rains expected for August and September

Statewide warning has been issued anticipating heavy rains until 3rd August. The period between August 4th to August 10th is estimated to witness a subsided amount of rain. The period between August 11th to August 17th are estimated to be particularly harsh for the regions in the interiors of North Karnataka. 

Forecast predicts heavy rains for the months of August and September. 

The rain in June was of a moderate amount but in July the rain received was more than expected. The forecast for June was 110.03 mm of rain but it only reached 72mm. Whereas for July, the forecast was 116.6 mm but the received rainfall was 132mm. Presently the forecast for August and September are 162.7 mm and 208.03 mm respectively. 

Until August 3rd the districts of Dakshina Kannada and Malnad might receive rains more than 2mm more than the monthly estimate. Many districts in the interiors of North Karnataka are also expected to receive rains more than the monthly estimate. Dakshina Kannada and South Karnataka districts are however set to receive rains of approximately equal amounts of the monthly estimate. The remaining districts are set to receive rains of amounts lesser than the monthly estimate. These include Kolar, Chikkabalapur and Chikkamagaluru.
