Chief Minister Siddaramaiah opened up about how he fared in academics during his younger days. He was asked a question pertaining to this by a young girl.

He told the girl that while he was pursuing his Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) he had ended up getting marks that fall into the first class. He stated that later on while studying in his Pre University College (PUC), he had to shift to an English medium of instruction. This had an impact on his performance bringing it down from first class to second class. He stated that this trend continued even during his undergraduate days while he was enrolled for a Bachelors in Science (B.Sc) course. He stated that while was studying law after getting a B.Sc degree, his marks fell into the category of third class.

This was during a special program initiated by NewsFirst titled “Kannada Ramaiyya.” He was a chief guest for the event. He answered several questions posed to him by students.

He stressed on the need to promote education in the lingua franca of the state in order for the students to gain a more holistic education by citing his personal experience.
