Karnataka are squared up against Vidarbha in their quarter final clash in the Vijay Hazare trophy. Vidarbha emerged as the table toppers in Group B although in terms of points they were on par with Maharashtra and Services. Karnataka finished second in Group C on account of having lost a game against table toppers Haryana.
Karnataka were fortunate to win the toss and put Vidarbha to bat first. The decision paid dividends as Karnataka pace bowlers Manoj Bhandage and Vyshak managed to bag 4 wickets within 11 overs as Vidharbha were reduced to 39 at the loss of 4 wickets. The middle order offered some resistance but the Karnataka spinner Jagadeesha Suchith managed to pick up 2 wickets in 2 balls in the 31st over reducing Vidarbha to 119 for the loss of 7 wickets.
Karnataka were able to restrict Vidarbha to a score of 173. Vyshak was the star bowler having picked up 4 wickets for 44 runs in his spell.
The openers captain Mayank Aggarwal and Ravikumar Samarth managed to give Karnataka a solid start as the team had lost just one wicket and scored 140 runs after 33 overs. Vidarbha would need a miracle to win the game from here. Karnataka entered the semi final stage in the previous edition as well.
